“You can not be anything but yourself. Then relax. Existence needs you as you are.”

It’s easy to stay looking forward as the year comes to a close, but let’s stay instead in the present time. The present is for ourselves and our passions: the time to do sports, the time to relax, to go out with friends and to see new places. Most importantly, it’s the time to give love to ourselves and to the people in our lives.

Starting with taking care of our bodies.

You do not need to live in the gym to feel the benefits of exercise. Actually, just a consistent 7 minutes a day can do wonders for your body, according to the fitness app Seven.

You will need a chair, a wall, your own body weight and 7 minutes of your time to reap the best benefits in the shortest time possible. Seven works just like a video game, but with your health. You only have 3 lives. If you skip a day you will lose a heart, but if you miss 3 workouts in a month, your score plummets and you have to begin again. If you train for 7 consecutive months, you will reach the highest level of 7.7.

Additionally, Seven motivates you to achieve your goals with more positive prizes; you can unlock levels and earn rewards. Plus, it will remind you of workouts, show you signs of your progress, and you can share your info on social media to show your commitment.
Seven also gives you a personalized instructor who guides you through exercises and checks your progress. There are no more excuses to stop you from bettering yourself.

There is another element to health, and that is mental. Life can be stressful, and oftentimes we try to find ourselves just by closing our eyes and breathing. We tested out an application that claims it can change the way you rest.

Headspace is a sweet voiced guide that leads you through a meditation, allowing you to relax your body and mind and recover a little serenity, perhaps after a bad day at work or an afternoon of intense study.

You just need a pillow, maybe a few candles to create the atmosphere, and headphones. Then close your eyes and let your mind wander.

Each session lasts 10 minutes, where you will hear a series of nature sounds, voices and light puffs of wind. Look no further for a way to wind down before sleeping. Maybe after a session in the gym and a nice shower, ten minutes before bed, reward yourself by trying out this app, and you’ll notice how the entire body relaxes. Repeat this routine for the next few days, and keep at it for a few weeks to see if you notice a difference.

Sometimes the best gifts come from those who know us best: ourselves.
