With holiday season in full swing, there are no shortages of parties to get pretty for. This week, the main event is Thanksgiving. Regardless of the setting you give thanks in, dressing for success is just as important as the side dish you “slave” over. The Thanksgiving mood is generally light-hearted and joyful, so your ensemble should reflect that.

Whether you are seeing your family, spending it with friends, or meeting your partner’s family for the first time, you cannot go wrong with a good blouse, tailored pant, and interesting shoe.

For this holiday look, let’s start with a cream colored tie neck blouse. This top by Tamara Mellon is timeless but unique– it’s a crowd pleaser.

Pairing this lovely blouse with high waisted paints is the way to go. I prefer these burgundy corduroy flares by Alexa Chung for AG. The cream and the burgundy corduroy would be quite complementary, and allow each piece to stand out in all its glory.

With the color blocking of the top and bottom, it’s important to add an interesting shoe and showcase some variety. The Polina tri-colored T-strap pump by Jeffrey Campbell is perfect. The shape and design of this shoe will complement the pants and the ultra fabulous colors have a festive fall appeal. Tucking the blouse into the high waist of the pants and stepping into a slightly platformed pump gives a remarkable silhouette. This is a very attractive look and will not go unnoticed!

Once dressed, its time to accentuate ourselves with the proper beauty. Although most hairstyles would look good, I believe this occasion calls for a polished, blown out look. Smooth but with body and movement, as this sort of hair is very inviting. When it comes to make-up, a dewey face is the way to go. Rosy cheeks, golden eyes, and glossy lips. Obviously, you’ll need a manicure, and for this particular look a fall inspired color such as plum or wine will work wonders.

Thanksgiving celebrations, like anything else, require us to dress the part. While we want to look our best, this day also comes attached with a wholesome vibe, so finding balance is key. Avoiding overly binding clothing is important, especially considering the day is centered around food. Also, too much make-up, especially lipstick can be a hindrance when you are eating and drinking a lot. A classic blouse, flattering pant, and great pair of heels is a special outfit. Topping this off with the appropriate hair and make-up choices are sure to make postcard worthy memories! The only thing left to do is grab those pumpkin pies you pretended to bake, donate one to charity, and show up for your Thanksgiving celebration looking chic, ready to give love to others.
