A memorable dream of a night that represents the best of European nobility as well as the New York City social scene: The White Cross Ball, thrown by the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, took place last week on Saturday, September 19th for the first time in New York. The recent memory remains in the mind’s eye, the images of an event characterized by a classical ambiance.

Just as the last candle is extinguished, and the sound of rustling clothes as patrons leave the Metropolitan Club fades away, we celebrate the success of what was one of the most anticipated social events of the year,  and the fact that StyleBlend was able to participate.

The charity project

We can proudly say that the goal of the White Cross Ball of New York to promote and sustain three target charity projects, according to the mission of the Order of Malta, has been successful. If we consider that tickets for the event sold out one week before, how excitement fluttered in the air throughout the night, and how enthusiastic and engaged the attendees were, the mission was achieved. Elegance and glamour, as well as generosity, were dominant that night.

The night

The beautiful Metropolitan Club hosted the big party. Guests of the White Cross Ball were greeted by elegant hostesses in long dresses, and led to a room for a cocktail reception. This lavish space was an unmissable photo opportunity, where the guests socialized and entertained each other while taking pictures.

The room, dominated by a large flag of the Order of Malta, had a space dedicated to the sponsors of the evening, some of the most important companies in the world who exhibited and donated their excellent products in the name of charity. The first part of the evening flew by with finger foods and champagne.

The festive atmosphere was paused by the lively sound of bells:  dinner was served. The room sparkled with candles and was filled with an intoxicating scent from the beautiful white flowers with which the tables were adorned. The three-course dinner, involving lobster, filet mignon and chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, was followed by a fun raffle for charity, where the guests were given various awards. After the raffle, the dancing began. DJ NatDodge filled the room with lively music. With the bustling atmosphere, it was impossible not to feel in the mood to celebrate.

The Protagonists

Internationality and social commitment have always characterized the Order of Malta. The Ball Committee is no exception, guided by Niccolò Falez, Ball Committee Chair, and Michael D. M. Espiritu, Counselor of the Permanent Observer Mission of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the United Nations, which actively promotes the organization’s centuries-old initiatives.

The sponsor

Many international sponsors lent their name and more to the White Cross Ball. Macallan, for example, set up a station with a bar in honor of the 450th anniversary of the Great Siege of Malta. Prestat decorated the dinner tables with its delicious chocolates. A slew of other famous companies have generously been active sponsors of the White Cross Ball: Larey Mondie, Santa Teresa, Robb Vices, Hotel Indigo Rome – St. George, Sophie Habsburg, Sedef Gali Art, Mulberry, Davide Cenci, Be Glammed, Crowne Plaza Rome St. Peter’s, Verma Diamonds,  Savile Row Society, and Chefs Club Food & Wine.
