Summer fashion 2015 is all about natural fabrics. Raffia, rope and straw are the best fabrics for shoes, bags and accessories. If you are going on vacation, don’t close your suitcase without them; they are perfect for walking around the city. Panama hats and rope shoes are classics, and though they tend to go in and out of style, right now they are seasonal must-haves.

This year, rope and straw are chic once again. The devil is in the details, and even a subtle rope lining on a white kaftan can make a difference. See some of our favorite pieces:

Panama hats are not just trendy and charming, they are useful to protect your head, face and hair from the sun, especially during the hot Italian summer. This year, designers are expanding on the trend, coming up with straw hats and bags you could never imagine.

The typical Panama hat with a grosgrain ribbon is sweet and girly, giving you that vintage look, like Brigitte Bardot in Saint Tropez in 1960’s.

It’s the ideal classy accessory paired with a summer party dress, or for vacation, paired with bikini, hot pants and a linen shirt. Etro has a lovely, colorful version, with a paisley brim.

Emilio Pucci proposes the uncommon baseball hat with the large rim, for sporty girls. The jockey hat with the criss-cross pattern and blue bow by Federica Moretti is cool and unconventional. Borsalino, the Italian brand known for its handmade hats, takes inspiration from 1930s for its Florence straw cloche honey-colored hat, and the classy white Panama hat with a pink ribbon.

espadrillas 2015

Espadrilles are THE shoes in summer 2015.

Their roots are ancient: Born in the XIV century in the Pyrenees, between the Occitan Region and Catalonia, they were known either as espadrilles or as alcorgatas. Farmers used to wear them while working in the fields. The upper portion was made of canvas, and the sole of hemp. In the 1970s and 1980s they become trendy, casual shoes, and nowadays they are super chic!

By espadrilles, we mean all the shoes with stranded rope sole, whether they are slippers, flats, or wedges. Sling-backs (like the leopard ones shown above by Stella McCartney) and sneakers-inspired espadrilles are the most current versions.

There are an endless amount of fabrics and patterns to choose from, not just canvas and rope. The classics are constantly being updated.

Valentino presents espadrilles in red lace, or with studded laces in leather material. Jimmy Choo prefers glittery shoes. Flowered patterns for Patrizia Pepe and Dolce and Gabbana, while Castaner chooses blue navy, solid or striped, to combine with totes and hand-bags.

So… have you picked out your espadrilles and your Panama hat?
