Each week, U.S. Editor Regina and Italian contributor Chiara will scout out the most enticing eats and places to play in their respective cities. This adventure is intended not only to unearth the hidden gems in our own hometowns, but to explore the lifestyle differences between our two cultures. Let’s dig in.

NYC Experience

When you think about it, the idea of brunch is not all it’s cracked up to be. Getting up earlier than you would have liked to and choosing from a menu filled with basic dishes or ones that borrow from the latest grocery store trends seems like a chore. And when you’re talking unlimited drinks, simply put, brunch is not for the weak.

At Randolph Beer, however, the vibe is low key and decor is inviting. Located in Italy, Randolph Beer is a casual spot to meet up with friends for a few rounds of mimosas, Bloody Mary’s or glasses of IPA.

Randolph Beer gets a lot of things right, but what they get best is portions. You’re never left wondering if that’s all you get, yet dishes are far from astronomical. I went for the grain and kale salad, paired with bottomless mimosas, while my friends decided on Bloody Mary’s and chicken dishes.

Brunch may not always be the easiest choice when you’re making plans for the weekend, but when you commit to waking up early on a Sunday morning, there’s no better place to go than Randoph Beer.

Milan Experience

In the always-hectic Milan, near Corso XXII Marzo, there is a charming restaurant with a typical Provencal style, where a warm and welcoming atmosphere takes over. All who visit Cocotte are suddenly immersed in an environment almost too heavenly for words.

The specialty of Cocotte is the use of cocottes, terracotta bowls used to both prepare and enjoy dishes offered at the restaurant. During brunch, main dishes are served in small bowls and placed at the counter. Gone are the days of cold food and disappointing experiences!
