Every year, New York City has the honor of seeing the most influential people in the world of television gathered together, to celebrate and reward their hard work in journalism, communication and documentary programming, for the issues that hit closest to home.

This year, on Saturday, March 19, the 59th annual NY Emmy Awards ceremony took place in the elegant Marriott Marquis hotel in Times Square, hosting a gala event for a wide audience of presenters, journalists and television producers.

The Emmy is the most important award to be won in television at the national level, and to be recognized by the Academy members is a prestigious honor. The NY Emmy awards is thrown by the The New York Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NY NATAS), and awards excellence in the television industry in the tri-state area. Since 1955, the Academy has rewarded artists, directors, producers, artistic directors, technicians and managers in several television categories.

This year saw several big names in the world of journalism come onstage to present awards. Actress Colleen Zank made an appearance, as well as journalist and correspondent Jill Martin, Marvin Scott, Alicia Quarles, producer Rand Morrison and many others.
