With New York Fashion Week just a few days away, fashion season is once again around the corner. Even though us commoners might not be directly involved, if you live in one of the three major cities that host the most important fashion weeks, then chances are you will have some exposure. Fashion week is a time for making connections, spotting celebrities, experimenting with clothes… the possibilities are endless and you don’t have to be part of the elite fashion world to feel like an insider. Models and celebrities take over New York, Milan and Paris trying to find their way around the city while hailing cabs and Ubers in order not to be late for the numerous shows they attend every day. And who hasn’t heard of the lavish parties and happy hours that follow the shows? Only A-list celebrities, press members and fashion magazine editors are lucky enough to get invitations, but we are well aware that dreaming is free! So let’s take a look at the coolest parties and shows that liven up the biggest cities in fashion.

New York Fashion Week

During the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, NYC is taken over by photographers, models and fashionistas. The parties, shows, and overall atmosphere that characterizes these events are the best representation of the glamorous side of the American fashion industry. Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs are some of the names that have contributed to the growth of American fashion, and invitations to their shows are the most coveted.

Additionally, the great Donatella Versace, one of the world’s main ambassadors of Italian fashion, presents her line Versus at NYFW, along with Hugo Boss and Michael Kors, who is becoming more and more relevant in the fashion panorama as seasons go by.

NYFW is not only about the shows, as it also offers some remarkable events. Jeremy Scott hosted one of the coolest parties during last year’s fashion week. The location was Space Ibiza New York and the crowd looked like it came straight out of the first half of the 80s. Another highlight was the Rag & Bone after party at Standard East, filled with champagne and celebrities.

Milan Fashion Week

Milan Fashion Week features some of the most internationally known and most appreciated designers in the world. Armani, Prada, Dolce&Gabbana and Gucci are some of the names whose shows liven up the city of Milan and attract hundreds of A-list celebrities, along with the most important names in the fashion world. According to the conventional view of fashion insiders, the participants in Milan’s fashion week are considered less willing to take risks compared to NYFW, thus it has the reputation of being a bit too traditional. However, the tides are quickly changing, as last year’s fashion week was all about youth and energy thanks to the new designers who have taken over the major fashion houses.

As for the after show parties, Philippe Plein’s is one of the most sought after. The German designer has earned the status of style icon thanks to his unconventional elegance that elevates the underground culture to luxury. Parties are filled with members of the fashion elite and a dynamic jet-setting crowd that gather together to enjoy music played by the best DJs around.

 Paris Fashion Week

Fashion month wraps up with Paris Fashion Week, home of Louis Vuitton, Dior, Chanel and Hermes’ shows, just to name a few. The City of Lights hosts what is considered the most creative of all fashion weeks. The remarkable roster of designers makes Paris’ runways the most highly anticipated of the fashion season, and the looks presented on the catwalk immediately become the season’s most followed trends. It takes the ability of visionary geniuses like Karl Lagerfeld to transform ideas into extraordinary new styles.

Rihanna and Katy Perry were seen at the Moschino after-party at VIP room to celebrate Jeremy Scott’s new collection, and designer Karl Lagerfield hosted the Tiffany Cooper Exhibition at his boutique.
